The first annual Galloway “Trunk or Treat” was bigger than anyone could have imagined. Beth and Jen of Galloway Community Services hit a grand slam with this event. Those handing out candy were told to be prepared for 500 children just in case there was a big crowd. Many estimates put the crowd at almost double that number.
To say the least, we were overwhelmed. We, the Galloway Patriot newspaper, brought out our military trucks and decorated them for the occasion. We expected a good crowd but also a leisurely event were we would just relax and hand out some candy. WOW, we were wrong. As soon as the event started the line was so large that we stayed moving as fast as we could handing out candy and taking photos for the whole time.
The event was supposed to run from 6pm to 730pm but the crowd was so large that first we extended to 745 then to 8 before we just had to stop. We had exhausted the huge amount of candy we brought and depleted all the batteries we brought for the camera.
We are sorry if anyone felt rushed but we wanted to get to as many children as possible. If we missed anyone and they want their photo taken with the military trucks, just contact us to set something up.
We took hundreds of photos and many came out well. The attached gallery includes over 300 photos. We hope that enjoy the photos and we look forward to a great event next year.
