This past week The Galloway Township Police Department K-9 Unit competed in the National 2016 United States Police Canine Association Police Dog 1 Trials held in Gloucester Township, NJ. The competition drew the top K-9 teams from all across The United States and even included a participant from The Country of Mexico. After the intense week of competition concluded all three of our participants performed extremely well and earned their 2016 National Police Dog 1 Certification. In 2016 there are only 60 total K-9 teams in The United States who possess the certification and only 10 K-9 teams in The State of New Jersey. The Galloway Township Police Department K-9 Unit is proud to have 3 of those 10 teams.

Sfc. Mark D’Esposito and K-9 Zito, Sgt. Winneberger and K-9 Rocky, and K-9 Sgt. Welsh and K-9 Titan also teamed up with Sgt. James Capaccio and K-9 Kaver of The Ocean Township Police Department, and Ofc. James Sapia and K-9 Hunter of The Tinton Falls Police Department to compete as team during the event. As a result we received honors as a team placing 4th overall in the entire country.
The Galloway Township Police Department K-9 Unit would like to thank our family, friends, co-workers, and public for their continued support as we prepared for this competition. As always, we will continue to work hard with our K-9 partners to provide the citizens of Galloway Township with the best possible K-9 service.
